Biblical Depression (Professed vs. Practiced Theology)

Quite often we hear believers quoting scripture completely out of context and use it to justify the way they live. Professing the Word of God is a good thing as long as it is coupled with practicing it. If we look at Ephesians chapter 5, we can immediately see a good example. The first verse states “Be imitators of God”, that is practicing what the word has to say.

Often we hear people say, to believe in God is to live as though He exist. It is evident in American society that there are many who claim Christ and are members of the church but live as the rest of the world. Billions of dollars a year are spent on entertainment while neglecting Christ. Pharmaceutical companies and doctors are handing out anti-depressants like candy while overlooking the side effects. The world at large is brainwashed to believe that negative events in our lives are related to some disease and we are accountable for nothing.

In summary, the profession of Christ without the fruits of the spirit is the same as to live life as if there is no God. Practicing Christians, not only profess but live the life that leads to salvation as is evidence by the fruits of their labor.

I agree Carl. Scripture tells us you shall know them by their fruits. Only God knows the heart. Many Christians have two separate lives that they live. It is sad.
